Mackenzie River- A river of northwest Canada rising in Great Slave Lake in southern Northwest Territories and flowing about 1,802 km (1,120 mi) generally northwest to a vast delta on Mackenzie Bay, an arm of the Beaufort Sea. It was first navigated by Sir Alexander Mackenzie in 1789.
