Syr Dar·ya  (sîr där  y  , d  r-yä  ) KEY - A river of central Asia rising in the Tian Shan and flowing about 2,220 km (1,380 mi) generally southwest through eastern Uzbekistan and northern Tajikistan, then flowing generally northwest back through Uzbekistan and south-central Kazakhstan to the Aral Sea.
