ETYMOLOGY:
Middle English querre, entrails of a deer given to hounds as a reward, from Old French cuiriee, alteration (influenced by cuir, skin), of coree from Vulgar Latin *corta, viscera, from Latin cor, heart; see kerd- in Indo-European roots
