Redwood National Park
112,430 acres (45,518 hectares), along the Pacific coast, NW Calif.; est. 1968. Backed by coastal bluffs, 40 mi (64 km) of beach, lagoon, and rocky coast are preserved in their natural state; seals, sea lions, and birds live on offshore rocks. Inland, numerous stands of virgin California redwood, many over 2,000 years old, are found; the world's tallest tree, 367.8 ft (112.1 m) high, is located in the park.
